Marwan Sadat Marwan M. Sadat, Ph.D., P.E., is President and Founder of Sadat Associates, Inc., of Trenton, New Jersey, an environmental science and engineering firm founded in 1986. Dr. Sadat has been a leading figure on the environmental engineering scene for more than 30 years. Engineering News Record named him Man of the Year in 1986, and credited Dr. Sadat with organizing and implementing New Jersey’s hazardous waste cleanup program - while other states fell well behind. He was called decisive and a "toxic cleanup pioneer"; in New Jersey, a state regarded as the nation’s most demanding environmental jurisdiction. The firm was named Environmental Firm of the Year for 1997 by the New Jersey Technology Council, and was chief engineer and permitting project manager on the team that received the 2001 Phoenix Award - EPA Region II for the Jersey Gardens Mall, the state’s premiere brownfields redevelopment project (this project was second place in the national award ranking). Previously, Dr. Sadat held various positions within the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, including Director of the Division of Waste Management. Dr. Sadat holds a Professional Engineer license in the states of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He is a Licensed Site Remediation Professional in New Jersey.

Dr. Sadat has been an expert witness in cases where the aggregate claims have exceeded $1.5 billion. These cases involve the apportionment of responsibility for environmental impacts and remediation costs using factors such as toxicity, the type and volume of contaminants, and the impact of such contamination on third parties.

Dr. Sadat received a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey, a M.S. in Engineering Science from NJIT, and a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Rutgers University. He did advanced finite element coursework at MIT and at the NASA-sponsored Summer Post-Doctoral Program at George Washington University.

In addition to having been a board member of Mercer County Community College and the Pennington School, Dr. Sadat is a founding member of the U.S. Algeria Business Council. He also taught at the graduate level at Rutgers University and Stevens Institute of Technology, and has numerous publications in the field.
